Dynamic response of interacting one-dimensional fermions in the harmonic atom trap: Phase response and the inhomogeneous mobility

چکیده
The problem of the Kohn mode in bosonized theories of one-dimensional interacting fermions in the harmonic trap is investigated and a suitable modification of the interaction is proposed which preserves the Kohn mode. The modified theory is used to calculate exactly the inhomogeneous linear mobility μ(z, z0;ω) at position z in response to a spatial force pulse at position z0. It is found that the inhomogeneous particle mobility exhibits resonances not only at the trap frequency ωl but also at multiples mǫ̃, m = 2, 3, ... of a new renormalized collective mode frequency which depends on the strength of the interaction. In contrast, the homogeneous response obtained by an average over z0 remains that of the non-interacting system.

Dynamic response of interacting one-dimensional fermions in the harmonic atom trap: The local mobility
The local frequency dependent mobility of one-dimensional interacting fermionic atoms in the harmonic trap is calculated using a phase operator formalism. A new resonance at the frequency of collective density excitations below Kohn’s mode is found. The extension to the case of two interacting components is also given.
متن کاملHarmonic Response of Pile Groups to Dynamic Loading
A completely general method of analysis for three-dimensional raked piles under harmonic excitation is discussed. The piles have been represented by a three-dimensional frame structure and the soil has been represented by a boundary element discretization scheme. A computer program has been written which carries out this analysis and produces a group stiffness matrix that can be included as a f...
متن کاملRheological Response and Validity of Viscoelastic Model Through Propagation of Harmonic Wave in Non-Homogeneous Viscoelastic Rods
This study is concerned to check the validity and applicability of a five parameter viscoelastic model for harmonic wave propagating in the non-homogeneous viscoelastic rods of varying density. The constitutive relation for five parameter model is first developed and validity of these relations is checked. The non-homogeneous viscoelastic rods are assumed to be initially unstressed and at rest....
متن کاملAntiferromagnetic order of strongly interacting fermions in a trap: real-space dynamical mean-field analysis
We apply dynamical mean-field theory to strongly interacting fermions in an inhomogeneous environment. With the help of this real-space dynamical mean-field theory (R-DMFT) we investigate antiferromagnetic states of repulsively interacting fermions with spin12 in a harmonic potential. Within R-DMFT, antiferromagnetic order is found to be stable in spatial regions with total particle density clo...
متن کاملun 2 00 4 Phase theory and critical exponents for the Tomonaga - Luttinger model with harmonic confinement
A phase operator formulation for a recent model of interacting one-dimensional fermions in a harmonic trap is developed. The resulting theory is similar to the corresponding approach for the Luttinger model with open boundary conditions (OBC). However, in place of the spatial coordinate z, a dimensionless variable u defined on the unit circle appears as argument of the phase fields and u is non...
